The state leadership, as well as Podgorica Mayor Saša Mujović, did not attend the ceremonial session marking Zeta Municipality Day.
The Prime Minister Milojko Spajić, the President of Montenegro Jakov Milatović and the President of Parliament Andrija Mandić sent official congratulatory messages to the leadership and citizens of Zeta, but were not present in Golubovci today.
Mandić, who previously spoke at events organized by the Municipality of Zeta, has not attended the celebration of the youngest Montenegrin municipality for the second consecutive year.
Unlike last year, the event in Golubovci was also not attended by Mayor Mujović, whose positions, particularly regarding the construction of a wastewater treatment plant in Botun, differ from those of the local authorities and the majority of Zeta’s residents.
During the ceremonial session, numerous difficulties were highlighted, which, according to representatives of the Municipality, have been accompanied by a lack of understanding from the state-level authorities.
- I will protect the interests of Zeta and its residents and use all permitted means to that end. This will be my absolute priority - said Municipality President Mihailo Asanović.
The President of the local parliament Aleksandar Kojičić stated that Zeta will not remain silent while its resources are being exploited and its development neglected.
- The interests of Zeta’s citizens are sacred, and we are obliged to represent them always and everywhere - Kojičić said.
Among those attending the ceremonial session were the leader of the Democratic People’s Party Milan Knežević, Mayor of Pljevlja Dario Vraneš, MP of the DPP Jelena Kljaljević, Socialist People’s Party MPs Slađana Kaluđerović and Bogdan Božović, as well as the ambassadors of Serbia, Palestine and Russia - Nebojša Rodić, Rabii Alhantouli and Alexander Lukashik.
