Football Association of Montenegro withdraws support for Gianni Infantino

The Football Association of Montenegro has withdrawn its support for Gianni Infantino’s bid for another term as president of the world football governing body FIFA, the Montenegrin federation announced on its website.

- Recent events within FIFA are extremely concerning and have revealed a serious lack of communication and transparency, not only towards the member associations, which are the backbone of the organisation, but also towards internal bodies, including the FIFA Council, as well as structures that should form the foundations of FIFA – they wrote in the official statement.

The proposals that have been put forward, as they assessed, have exposed worrying vulnerabilities in terms of governance, not only at the political level but also within the administration.

- Therefore, the Football Association of Montenegro has decided to withdraw its letter of support, previously given in favour of Mr Gianni Infantino’s candidacy for re-election in 2027. The Football Association of Montenegro shares the view of other European national associations and UEFA and calls for an in-depth review of the actions of the FIFA leadership – Montenegro's Football Association concluded.
