Koprivica: I am obviously the target, and Duško Roganović is the weapon

Retired police official Duško Koprivica said, in his statement before the High Court in Podgorica, that he is „obviously the target“, while his son-in-law Duško Roganović is „the weapon“.

Koprivica is on trial over allegations that, together with his son-in-law Duško Roganović, as well as his wife Radosava and son Strahinja Koprivica, he laundered money. Duško Roganović is unavailable to Montenegrin authorities and, according to police records, is considered a high-ranking member of the Kavač criminal group and is wanted for involvement in a murder. According to the indictment, the Koprivicas and Roganović are accused of laundering €964,850.

Before the panel chaired by Judge Nikola Boričić, Duško Koprivica stated that he is convinced he will prove his innocence.

Judge Boričić’s panel rejected the defense’s motion to lift Duško Koprivica’s detention. The court also did not accept the lawyers’ request to exclude Sky communications from the case file, as they consider them unlawful evidence.

The trial will continue on June 4, when intercepted Sky messages will be read.

The indictment against the Koprivicas and Roganović states that from October 2019 onward, they allegedly formed a group for the purpose of money laundering. As reasonably suspected, Roganović knew that the money originated from criminal activity and gave instructions to the Koprivica family on how to „transfer“ it.
