Nedović: The Parliament will respect the final judgment regarding the case of the Council of the Public Broadcaster

The Parliament of Montenegro will respect final decisions of competent courts, and the Administrative Committee will act within its powers responsibly, impartially, and strictly in accordance with the law – said the chair of this committee, Jelena Nedović, following a final court ruling against the president and several members of the Council of the Public Broadcaster.
In a Facebook post, Nedović stated that respect for court decisions is one of the foundations of the rule of law and Montenegro’s democratic order.
- Regarding the final court judgment concerning members of the Council of the Radio Television of Montenegro, I want to clearly state that respect for court decisions is a cornerstone of the rule of law and one of the fundamental principles on which Montenegro’s democratic system is based - Nedović said.
In a country aspiring to full European Union membership, she added, court rulings cannot be subject to political interpretation.
- The Parliament of Montenegro will respect final decisions of competent courts. In a country that aspires to full EU membership, court rulings are not subject to political interpretation, but are binding acts that must be respected - she said.
She further stated that the Administrative Committee will carry out all activities in line with its legal authority and the principle of legality.
- The Administrative Committee will, within its competences and in accordance with the law, act responsibly, impartially, and strictly guided by the principle of legality. Every decision will be based on relevant facts, applicable regulations, and the obligation to respect the legal order of Montenegro - Nedović concluded.
