Ownership change at TV Vijesti blocked: Commercial Court orders temporary measure amid dispute over sale of majority stake

The Commercial Court of Montenegro last week granted a request by the founders and minority shareholders of TV Vijesti and temporarily blocked changes to the company’s ownership and management structure, finding sufficient grounds to preserve the existing situation until the dispute over the sale of the majority stake is resolved.
As reported by Portal Vijesti, a ruling dated 12 August 2026, issued by Judge Milica Saveljić and delivered to the minority shareholders, prohibits the holding of an extraordinary shareholders’ meeting scheduled for 9 September, as well as the implementation of decisions that could pave the way for changes to the company’s ownership structure and representation.
United Media holds a 51% stake in TV Vijesti, while the television station’s founders and the Media Development Investment Fund (MDIF), together with the other minority shareholders who filed the request with the Commercial Court, hold approximately 49%.
