Prosecutorial Council: Popović the only applicant for the position of special prosecutor at the SSPO

Former President of the Court of Appeals Mirjana Popović is the only person to have applied for the position of special prosecutor at the Special State Prosecutor’s Office (SSPO).

- We hereby inform you that one application was received in response to the public call for the appointment of eight state special prosecutors, namely the application of Mirjana Popović - the Prosecutorial Council told ETV Portal.

Earlier, information was published indicating that Popović could soon join the team of Chief Special Prosecutor Vladimir Novović.

In mid-July, the Prosecutorial Council issued a public call for the third time for the appointment of special prosecutors at the SSPO. However, the previous calls failed precisely because of a lack of interest, as only one candidate applied in response to each of them.

It should be recalled that in early April, the Judicial Council dismissed Popović from her position over inappropriate conduct toward employees. Following her dismissal as President of the Court of Appeals, Popović resigned from her position as a judge.
