On the occasion of the twentieth anniversary of the restoration of Montenegro’s independence, Independence Square will, on May 21, become the stage for one of the most significant musical events in the modern history of the region, featuring a concert by global music icon Ricky Martin, the Government announced.
The Coordination Body for the Organization of the Celebration of the Twentieth Anniversary of the Restoration of Montenegro’s Independence proudly announces, as stated, the central event of the three-day jubilee program marking twenty years since the restoration of independence.
- This extraordinary artistic event is conceived as a gift from the state to its citizens, therefore - the concert will be open and free of charge for all citizens of Montenegro, as well as for numerous visitors expected from the region and around the world. The arrival of an artist whose name symbolizes top-tier production and a universal musical language confirms the Government of Montenegro’s intention to celebrate this historic jubilee in a magnificent manner - the statement reads.
The artist who, as highlighted, redefined the global pop scene, Ricky Martin, recipient of the prestigious MTV Latin Icon Award (2025) and a multiple Grammy Award winner, is one of the best-selling artists of all time, with over 70 million albums sold worldwide.
- With a concert in Podgorica, this global star will deliver an exclusive musical event, reaffirming his status as an artist who, over a career spanning more than four decades, has broken language barriers and become a pioneer of a global musical revolution - it adds.
In addition to his artistic contributions, Martin is recognized as a leading global philanthropist and goodwill ambassador, whose foundation has for decades led efforts in the fight for human rights.
