Šaranović: Locations where Medenica stayed known to police and prosecution
Minister of the Interior Danilo Šaranović stated that Miloš Medenica had stayed at locations known to the police and the prosecution, as well as the identities of the individuals who assisted him on January 27 and 28, since when he has been unavailable to state authorities.
Šaranović recalled that both a national and international arrest warrant have been issued for Miloš Medenica, and that the police are intensively working on locating him.
- Police search measures and actions have been undertaken with the aim of locating him as a convicted person, and during the initial phase it was established that this individual had stayed at locations known to the police and the prosecution, as well as which individuals assisted him on January 27 and 28, since when he has been unavailable to state authorities - the minister said.
He noted that the police possess information about the individuals who participated in „all of this assistance“.
- This information has been submitted by the police to the Basic State Prosecutor’s Office, after which a case was formed, and through joint activities of the police and the Basic State Prosecutor’s Office, two individuals were arrested yesterday on suspicion of committing the criminal offense of facilitating the escape of Miloš Medenica - Šaranović said.
He added that the two individuals arrested yesterday in a coordinated action by the police and the Basic Prosecutor’s Office are suspected of committing the criminal offense by providing assistance and logistical support to the fugitive Medenica while he was in hiding, in order to keep him unavailable to law enforcement authorities after he violated supervision measures.
- Of course, I emphasize that police officers continue to continuously undertake all measures and actions to locate and deprive this convicted person of liberty - the minister said.
As a reminder, the Police Directorate announced that two individuals were arrested on suspicion of enabling Miloš Medenica’s escape. According to our information, they are Saša Laković (36) and Nemanja Mučalica (36).
