Stojović: Individuals from the previous system legalized espionage for entities that are not Euro-Atlantic partners

Individuals from the previous system legalized espionage for entities that are not Euro-Atlantic partners. While publicly advocating for European integration, they simultaneously maintained political and interest-based ties with structures that are fundamentally opposed to the values of the European Union, claims MP and Secretary for International Cooperation of the Europe Now Movement Gordan Stojović.
- The European path served them as a political shield, while in the background an entirely different policy was being pursued. Today, when they are confronted with facts, their MPs are trying to relativize their own actions and shift attention to other issues. It is particularly problematic that they now question meetings between Montenegrin officials and representatives of EU and NATO countries, while they themselves signed agreements that involved the exchange of information on internal and international matters with the party of Vladimir Putin - Stojović stated.
Within that system, he emphasizes, there were and still are individuals who sincerely believe in Montenegro’s European future.
- However, the key decisions were always made by another, informal power structure - one that was not ready to implement reforms that would mean the end of a system that wore the mask of patriotism, but in reality only protected organized crime and corruption - Stojović concluded.
