Bar Basic State Prosecutor’s Office opens case over performance by Serbian choir „Fenečki biseri“ and songs featuring wartime and nationalist symbolism
Videos have appeared on social media featuring the songs „Đenerale, đenerale“ („General, general“) dedicated to Veljko Radenović, commander of a Serbian police unit in Kosovo during the war, as well as „O junačka svijetla zoro, majko naša Crna Goro“ („Oh, heroic bright dawn, our mother Montenegro“), in which Montenegro is portrayed as a country that „remained with the Serbian people for freedom“, while Njegoš is described as „the wisest Serbian mind“
The Basic State Prosecutor’s Office in Bar has opened a case concerning a performance by the Serbian choir „Fenečki biseri“ and its rendition of songs containing nationalist and wartime symbolism.
According to information provided to the ETV Portal, the prosecution is currently gathering information to determine whether the circumstances contain elements of a criminal offence subject to prosecution ex officio.
The concert was held at the Bar Cultural Centre to mark the tenth anniversary of the consecration of the Cathedral Church of St. John Vladimir in the city.
