Đuranović: The SSPO has confirmed that this is a political persecution of critical media, I will take all legal steps to protect my professional and personal integrity

The hearing at the Special State Prosecutor’s Office (SSPO) confirmed that this is a case of political persecution of critical media and journalists. There is clearly a background to their actions, assessed Editor-in-Chief of Television E Draško Đuranović, who responded this morning to the summons to testify in the investigation against businessman Aleksandar Mijajlović.

Đuranović said that he would take all legal steps to protect his professional and personal integrity.

- We will fight with all legal means. This creates a bad image of the state prosecution. They misused business communication and deliberately targeted six critical media outlets, attempting to criminalize them - Đuranović stated.

He pointed out that representatives of the six media outlets had a meeting with the Ambassador of the European Union (EU) to Montenegro Johan Satler, adding that the United Nations have said they are monitoring these developments.

- We will defend our integrity because we believe this should not be happening in a country that aspires to be a member of the EU – Đuranović said.

We will continue to do our job, he said - and let everyone else do theirs as well.

- It has not been recorded that the SSPO is a lever of power, yet that is today’s Montenegrin reality - he concluded.
