Special Prosecutor’s Office files indictment proposal against Asanović over appointment of Aligrudić as acting secretary
The Special State Prosecutor’s Office (SSPO) has filed an indictment proposal against president of Zeta Municipality, Mihailo Asanović, on suspicion that he abused his official position by appointing Jelena Aligrudić as acting secretary of the Secretariat for Spatial Planning, Environmental Protection and Traffic in the local government.
According to a statement, the indictment proposal was filed with the Special Division of the High Court in Podgorica.
The SSPO said that evidence gathered during the preliminary investigation indicates that, in June 2024, Asanović unlawfully abused his official position by deciding to appoint as acting secretary of the Secretariat for Spatial Planning, Environmental Protection and Traffic a person who did not meet the requirements prescribed by the Law on Local Self-Government, the Law on Civil Servants and State Employees, and the Rulebook on the Internal Organisation and Job Classification.
- As a result, he provided this person with a benefit by enabling her to perform a public function and receive a monthly salary as a public official - the SSPO said in its statement.
In June 2024, Asanović appointed Aligrudić as acting secretary of the Secretariat for Spatial Planning, Environmental Protection and Traffic.
In March, the Administrative Inspection Department, acting ex officio and at the initiative of the SSPO, carried out an extraordinary inspection at Zeta Municipality concerning Aligrudić’s appointment.
Asanović previously acknowledged to Dan that she had not passed the state professional examination.
