(VIDEO) Instead of Municipal Inspectors, Mujović knocked on the door of the Mihajlović family: Medo will stay with his family
Instead of the Municipal Inspection, the Mayor of Podgorica Saša Mujović rang the doorbell of Danijela Mihajlović this morning. Thanks to him, her son’s dog Medo was not taken away today.
The Mihajlović family experienced a tragedy when Danijela’s husband passed away suddenly. The death of his father left a deep void, especially in the heart of twelve-year-old Miodrag. On the advice of a psychologist, Danijela bought a small dog named Medo as a therapeutic pet for her son, to help him cope with the pain and grief.
However, the Municipal Inspection issued a decision to confiscate the dog, explaining that some neighbors had filed complaints due to Medo’s allegedly frequent barking.
Mujović reacted promptly, requesting that the Administration for Inspection Affairs of the Capital City suspend the enforcement of the decision under which the therapeutic dog Medo was supposed to be taken from the Mihajlović family.
Medo remains with the Mihajlović family, and Mujović personally came this morning to show his support and bring New Year’s gifts.
- For Medo the dog the holidays came early. While we were waiting this morning to see whether the municipal inspection would show up to take Medo from Danijela (even though they said they wouldn’t, we were there), I received a call from the Mayor’s office expressing a wish to visit Danijela, her son, and Medo, to offer support and bring holiday gifts. Medo stays with his family, happy and playful. Professor Mujović saw for himself that Medo is not aggressive but a happy little dog, and Danijela now believes that no one will take him away. One sad story has a happy ending. We need more stories with happy endings - civic activist Aleksandar Dragićević wrote on his Facebook profile.
He thanked the Mayor for taking this initiative on his own and for brightening the day of one family.
