Žižić: Lazović never interfered in the selection of organized crime members to be called for informative interviews

The trial of former Assistant Director of the Police Administration Zoran Lazović, former Chief Special Prosecutor Milivoje Katnić, and suspended prosecutor Saša Čađenović continued at the High Court in Podgorica with the testimony of former head of the Department for Combating Serious Crimes Milorad Žižić. Responding to questions, Žižić said that Lazović never interfered in deciding which members of organized criminal groups should be summoned for informative interviews, nor did he show interest in the content of the interview conducted with the leader of the „Kavač“ clan, Radoje Zvicer.
- In the Department for Combating Serious Crimes, we independently assessed which members of organized criminal groups we would call for informative interviews, while the Assistant Director of the Police Administration, Zoran Lazović, never interfered in those decisions nor requested to review the official notes made after those interviews, including the one prepared following the questioning of Radoje Zvicer - Žižić said.
Žižić also stated that Lazović himself insisted during collegium meetings on the application of secret surveillance measures and other measures against members of organized criminal groups. He also described what was ensured during the period when Lazović served as assistant director of the police.
- Lazović also insisted that, in addition to forensic experts from the Police Administration, forensic specialists from the Forensic Center in Danilovgrad be engaged at crime scene investigations. This was the practice throughout the entire period while Lazović was assistant director of the Police Administration. In cases of more serious crimes, the presence of a helicopter from the Ministry of the Interior was secured to facilitate the search for traces of criminal acts, and resources from the Border Police were also used - Žižić said.
