EU member states approve establishment of working group to prepare Accession Treaty with Montenegro

Member states of the European Union have approved the formation of an ad hoc working group to draft the Accession Treaty with Montenegro, announced the Minister of European Affairs Maida Gorčević.

According to her, this is a historic moment and the final step toward our full membership.

- This comes as a clear signal and confirmation of the strong support of the European Union for everything we have accomplished in the previous period. The formation of an ad hoc working group represents standard practice in the enlargement process, but at this moment, after many years, it carries a strong political message and confirms that the EU has confidence in the Government to complete the negotiation process within the planned timeframe by the end of the year - Gorčević concluded.
