Monteput: Record year in terms of traffic volume - more than 7,3 million vehicles on the highway and the Sozina Tunnel

The company Monteput announced that 2025 was a record year in terms of traffic volume, with more than 7,3 million vehicles passing along the highway and through the Sozina Tunnel.

- Monteput achieved record results in the past year with regard to vehicle traffic on the infrastructure facilities it manages. This confirms the growing role of modern road infrastructure in improving mobility, traffic safety, and the overall economic development of Montenegro - the company stated.

According to Monteput, a total of 3.212.608 vehicles passed along the priority section of the „Princess Ksenija“ highway, from Smokovac to Mateševo, during the past year.

- This represents the highest annual traffic volume ever recorded on this road. Passenger vehicles dominate the traffic structure, with 2,83 million recorded passages, confirming the highway’s importance for everyday travel and tourism. A significant share is also made up of commercial and public transport vehicles – 176.460 light commercial vehicles, 121.658 medium freight vehicles, and 67.430 buses and heavy freight vehicles were recorded - Monteput said.

The Sozina Tunnel, they added, once again confirmed its status as one of the busiest traffic routes in the country.

- A total of 4.152.305 vehicles passed through the tunnel, with passenger vehicles being the most prevalent, accounting for 3,64 million passages. When it comes to freight and bus traffic, 203.741 light commercial vehicles, 137.680 medium freight vehicles, as well as 136.055 buses and heavy freight vehicles were recorded - they stated.

Monteput emphasized that they will continue to be a strong partner to the state in the development of modern road infrastructure in the period ahead.

- With a clear goal of contributing to better regional connectivity, the development of tourism, and the strengthening of overall economic activity in Montenegro - Monteput concluded.
