Pensioners in front of the Parliament: An increase of 1.70 euros is an insult, not assistance

The Association of Pensioners organized a protest today symbolically at five to twelve in front of the Parliament of Montenegro due to the minimal pension adjustment and the increasingly unbearable living conditions of this population group.
Representatives of the pensioners emphasized that around 70,000 citizens receive a minimum pension of 450 euros, which, as they stated, is no longer sufficient to live with dignity.
They point out that the prices of food, medicines, and utility services have risen drastically, while their incomes have remained almost unchanged. The pension increase of 1.70 euros in particular has caused dissatisfaction, as they consider it symbolic and humiliating.
In addition to low incomes, pensioners also warn of serious problems within the healthcare system, including long waiting times for specialist examinations and treatments.
They state that it is „five to twelve“ (i.e., the last moment to act) and that the protest in front of Parliament should be peaceful and dignified, but they warn that if the authorities do not respond to their demands, they will be forced to take more radical measures.
